Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation

In 2018, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, a 501(c3) organization, established a local chapter affiliate, the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (the Foundation) as a chief advocate and fundraising partner for NOAA's Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. The Foundation represents a model collaboration between a public agency and a private organization by working to:

  1. Advocate on behalf of Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
  2. Engage the public through public outreach and education programs
  3. Develop and strengthen partnerships to protect biodiversity and enhance ecosystem health in the sanctuary through coordinated action

As a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, the Foundation is able to solicit funds from many sources and implement projects to aid in protection of the sanctuary.
